You walk into the places you want to work, ask for an application, and fill it out. Afterwards, you request to speak wiht someone in human resources to introduce yourself. If no one is available, get a contact name and phone number to call, and call that person 2-3 days later to follow up on the status of your application. You may need to get a green card from INS (Immigration and Natualization Service-- you can find offise locations and phone numbers in the Federal Government section of a phone directory) if you haven't got one already. And when you fill out your application, have the paperwork relevant to your immigration status and work status, as well as a list of at least three characterand professional references and your employment history, with you.
Good luck in your hunt!
