Next year I would like to move to Florida when I start college down there.
What would be the best sites to look for an apartment?
How should I go about looking for a job? I want to be hired before I move there, so I can start immediately when I get there.
And when should I buy furniture? Can I get some moving advice?
kijiji is really good for apartments, and can help with furniture. I'm assuming that you don't have a huge budget to furnish the place, I've been able to find really good deals on there.
Look in the local paper, and fax your resume with start date.
However, be careful, there's not many places that will hire someone sight unseen when so many are looking for work. Can I get some moving advice?
Lets start with an apartment. If you can't live on campus which is the least expensive option then start looking at apartment search sites. They are businesses that help apartment searchers find apartments and are paid by the apartment management companies. Sign up with several different ones since some apartments will be listed with one company but not another one.
Then go to salary.com to see how jobs are paying in the city you are moving to. Then put in your resume into all the major job sites, like Careerbuilder, Monster, InDeed, Snagajob, etc... Make sure you put you are relocating and paying your own moving expenses and try to set up two days for interviewing before the permanent move.
If you can buy furniture there it would be better so you don't have to pay to move it.
Other advice make sure you save enough to cover the move, college expenses, deposits for the apartment and utilities. Also there might be a first or last months rent needed besides the deposit. Also check out police reports of crimes in the area you plan to live in before making a decision.
Where? USF, UT, etc. If you will be a student some of those schools have rentals or a dorm. Generally people don't have jobs before they come here, and the schools can tell you about housing and later on temp or evening jobs but with our area having 11.4% unemployment right now I'm not so sure that that will improve by the time you arrive, and the jobs that will start to come back will be in construction. You only need a couple of pieces of furniture (buy at Walmart or Ikea once here or buy used), and would probably have a roommate. You'd look for apartments near the school.
