Any advice for someone who is really scared of needles and has to get 3 shots today?

Im really scared cuz i have to get 1 later, any advice? If it does go in ur butt, do u stand up? or sit down? do u have to undress?Any advice for someone who is really scared of needles and has to get 3 shots today?
just sit back and close your eyes, they are over so quickly and the pain is very minimal...no biggie, just think of something else.Any advice for someone who is really scared of needles and has to get 3 shots today?
Dont watch them so it
For a shot in the but you usually lie down and yes you undress. Do not think about the needle just do not look at it and you will be fine. I am deathly afraid of needles and that is what I do. I think about something sweet and it does not bother me.
admittance that you're scared is good. now, what you have to do is relax. trust your doctor. don't resist the pain. it's a lot better to just let the neddle do its thing.
sometimes, if you tell them that you don't like shots they can mix them together so you may only have to get 1. i hate shots and if you don't watch, it helps
TRY NOT TO BE SO Afraid. TAKE a deep breath.
Some injections will have to be administered through the back end, but most are through the arm.

Nobody likes being poked with a needle. I would maybe ask the nurse to not tell you when they are going to inject (e.g., you are going to feel a poke) right beforehand, because that always increased my anxiety.

I just look ahead, stay calm and its over before I know it. Really shots aren't that bad, it's the anticipation of it that's the worst.
The medical personnel will usually tell you what they prefer. The important thing is to relax. If you tense up you make yourself resistant to the stick which hurts more.
Yeah... it really hurts... only kidding... just bare your butt bend over as this makes the skin firmer and hope that if it is a male nurse that you feel the right sort of prick... ooops
I really hate needles too. Just don't look and make sure that they know that you don't want to know when it happens. I hate when they tell you that they are about to stick you. Try to keep your muscles relaxed and it will hurt less. Plus I usually focus on something in the wall. My 18 month old had to shots today and that was way more tramatic than getting them myself.
If you get a shot from behind, yes, you have to stand up, and yes, you do have to lose the pants. Some doctors will just make you move them down as far as it takes to get to the fat of the hip. Others will make you take them down completely.

I was afraid of needles, too, but I started insisting on getting all shots in the arm instead of from behind. That way I could see what the doctor was doing, and I actually started to feel better about it. When they draw blood, I still have to turn away, but at least I don't faint or freak out. If you haven't had many shots before, you'll eventually get used to it. Donate blood for the Red Cross once every few months. You'll be getting over your fear while helping someone else. It's a start.
dont put in your mind you're getting the shot. feel relaxed, calmmmmmmmm, confidennnnnnnt, powerful! focus your mind to something very interesting and enjoyable. before you even know it, you have shut the initial pain those needles may give you.
don't worry, ur a guy right? I had several once, not fun. It's quick but it does sting after for a bit. No, not ur butt. No u don't undress. Only if ur over 18.
When you are getting the shot/s think of blowing up a balloon. It relaxes the muscles. It really does work!
im also really scared of getting shots. but if u sqeeze something really tight and close ur eyes it wont hurt as bad.
How old are you.
You may have to undress, but you mgiht just be able to pull your pants down a bit. You probably don't HAVE to lay down.

Shots are really no big deal. They're quick. It won't be so bad. Just don't look when they do it.
Most of the time you feel nothing.

Do you have an Ipod? Tell the doctor not to tell you when he is gonna do it, put on your earphones, turn on the volume, play your favorite song and sing along with it.

Chances are that you won't even notice.
Close your eyes and don't watch
Get over it.

Try going through contractions while an anestheseologist is sticking a foot-long needle in your spine, telling you not to move or it will paralize you! Then come and tell me your scared of a little vaccine!
Obviously, its too late to answer your question from one week ago, hope all went well
Well! In the contrast, I got scared of my first shots when i'm young and i got shots on my arm.
It depends on what the shot is. Most shots are given in the arm and you do not have to undress. The best advice I can give you is to sit still during the shot - it will hurt less. To prevent sorness for the next few days, after you recieve the shot move your arm around, do some push-ups and other arm exercises when you get home.
take some ice cubes with you and use them to make area cold, it will make the area dead to pain
Look the other way and try to relax as much as possible. The more tense you are, the more it will hurt. Take deep breaths and relax. You're usually sitting down when they adminster shots.
i had mine sitting down and i didn't have to undress just lowered down my jeans for the doc to inject me. it takes about a minute and alot of hushing.
