My cats get wild in the early morning hours and don't let us sleep. Advice?

Our 1 year old cat is very hyper especially in the morning and wants to play with our older 9 year old cat. He chases him all over the house and the older cat doesn't really want to participate and actually seems annoyed but won't harm the younger cat. When the younger cat was a little kitten they would play and both seemed to enjoy it but now the senior cat has grown weary. Today we had to let the older cat outside to keep them separated and to get some sleep.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thx!!My cats get wild in the early morning hours and don't let us sleep. Advice?
The main problem is that cats are crepuscular, which means they are most active around dawn and dusk. From what you're describing, I think there's not enough stimulation or exercise for the young cat - he sounds like a very active kitty. There are several different things you can do - I'd recommend getting toys to help keep this one amused. There are several different types of toys available, including ones that hang from doorknobs and ones that will spin in circles, etc. I'd also recommend giving him a workout before you go to bed - get a laser or a chaser toy and make him run around chasing it for a good 15-20 minutes. That might tire him out so he sleeps in a bit later. My cats get wild in the early morning hours and don't let us sleep. Advice?
I'm familiar with that: My male cat does that to my female at times- though he's pretty good about listening most of the time when I tell him to cool it. When he doesn't listen, I close him out of the bedroom and let him cry it out. He's usually good the next night.
We have two cats, one is almost 2 and the other is a year and a half. They both will go crazy chasing each other early in the morning. The only way we get any relief is to close the door to our bedroom. We hate doing it, but otherwise they chase each other over our bed!
Have a sit down chat with the younger cat. Explain to him that this type of behavior is unacceptable. Give him some consequences and follow up with an ultimatum. That should put him in his place... after all it worked for me! Good luck!
You could but a BIG doggy cage. Put some bedding in it and maybe a little screen around it. Put your older cat in there so it will have some privacy and with the screen your younger cat won't be able to see it.
you could try getting the younger cat neutered it might calm him dwn n stop him bothering the older cat tht just wants to relax
keep them outside
send them to a shelter!!!
